Shipping Policy – The Kava Shop

Order Processing Time

All orders are processed within 1–3 business days (excluding weekends and public holidays) after receiving your order confirmation email. You'll receive a notification when your order has shipped.

Please allow additional time during peak periods or for large orders.

Shipping Rates & Estimates

Domestic (New Zealand):

  • Free city shipping: Free on orders of $80 NZD or more, after any discount codes, to the Auckland urban area and greater Christchurch (see below)
  • Standard Shipping: $11.50 NZD (orders under $160 NZD)
  • Rural Delivery: $15.00 NZD (orders under $160 NZD)
  • Free Shipping: On all orders of $160 NZD or more, after any discount codes, including rural addresses
  • Estimated Delivery: 2–3 business days from dispatch for most addresses, and 2–4 business days for rural addresses

Free City Shipping

Orders of $80 NZD or more ship free to the Auckland urban area and greater Christchurch. We still send them by courier, like every order. At checkout this option shows as "Local delivery" when your postcode qualifies.

  • Auckland: from Long Bay and Albany down to Papakura, Takanini and Drury, west to Swanson, Massey and Hobsonville, and east to Howick and Flat Bush.
  • Greater Christchurch: every suburb, plus Lyttelton, Governors Bay, Diamond Harbour, Rolleston, Lincoln, Prebbleton, West Melton, Darfield, Kaiapoi, Woodend, Pegasus and Rangiora.
  • Not included: the Gulf islands (including Waiheke), Pukekohe, Waiuku, Kumeū, Huapai, Riverhead, Helensville, Warkworth, Beachlands, Maraetai, Leeston, and Rural Delivery addresses outside these areas. Those addresses pay standard or rural rates.

On the Hibiscus Coast (Silverdale, Millwater, Milldale, Ōrewa, Whangaparāoa)? Pickup from our Silverdale branch is free.

Local delivery doesn't appear in Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal express checkout, so use the regular checkout to choose it.

Local Pickup

Free pickup is available at both our branches. Select "Pick up" at checkout and we'll contact you to confirm a suitable time.

  • Auckland (Silverdale): 10am–9pm daily
  • Christchurch (Riccarton): 9am–9pm daily

Packaging

All orders are packed in sealed, food-grade stand-up pouches to ensure freshness and hygiene. We aim to reduce plastic where possible.

Tracking Your Order

Once your order has shipped, you'll receive a confirmation email with a tracking number. From the day your tracking number is issued, allow 2–3 business days for your order to arrive (2–4 business days for rural addresses). Please allow up to 24 hours for tracking information to update.

Free city shipping orders don't get this automatic email. Email us and we'll send you the tracking number.

Delays & Issues

We are not responsible for shipping delays caused by couriers or natural disruptions. However, we're committed to helping you locate delayed parcels, so please email us any time with your concerns.

Shipping Restrictions

We currently ship within New Zealand only. We do not offer international shipping at this time due to customs restrictions around kava.
