Hi, I'm Karlos Hennings.
The Kava Shop is a family business — not a brand playing dress-up as one. Here's the short version of how it started.
Karlos Hennings
"We don't carry a catalogue. We carry one kava — because we believe one exceptional thing is worth more than a hundred average ones."
The Kava Shop is a New Zealand business, run under Himex Trading Ltd. It's family-run in the literal sense, not just the slogan. I grew up drinking kava with people I'm related to, and this business exists so you can drink the same noble kava we always have.
My father's family is from Colo-i-Colo, Taveuni — the heritage behind the name Colocolo Gold. My mother's family is from Kadavu, Fiji, and that's the island every bag is actually grown on.
Single origin isn't a marketing line here. It's the only way to run a business built on a family's crop — one island, one standard, no shortcuts, and nothing blended in from somewhere else to stretch a shipment.

Noble Kava Only
Not all kava is equal. Noble varieties are cultivated for quality, balance, and clean effects. We never carry tudei (two-day) kava — only varieties grown to the highest traditional standards.
Single Origin
Every batch of Colocolo Gold comes from Kadavu, Fiji — my mother's home island, and one of the Pacific's most respected kava-growing regions.
Transparency First
You should know exactly what you're drinking and where it came from. We're committed to being open about our sourcing, our quality checks, and what goes into every bag of kava we ship.
Colocolo Gold
Our flagship kava. Single origin from Kadavu, Fiji. 100% noble variety. Ground to a medium-fine consistency for balanced strength and smooth preparation. Available in four sizes — from a 100g taster through to a 1kg ceremonial supply.
