What We Offer
How Our Kava Is Prepared
At The Kava Shop, we honour the traditional methods of kava preparation that have been practiced in the Pacific for generations. Our kava is not just a product it’s the result of careful, respectful handling from start to finish.
Our Kava plantsis grown for about 2-3 years the roots are harvested by hand with care and intention. After harvesting, the roots are thoroughly washed to remove any soil or impurities, ensuring a clean, natural starting point. No chemicals or artificial cleaners are used at any stage.
The clean roots are then sun-dried for 2 to 3 weeks, allowing them to slowly lose moisture while preserving their strength, flavour, and earthy aroma. This slow-drying method is essential to achieving a high-quality, shelf-stable product that retains its traditional character.
Once dried, every batch is hand-pounded into a fine, consistent powder using clean, food-safe tools. This step is done with intention and patience, it is never rushed or mass produced. It allows the root to retain its noble quality while breaking it down in a way that respects the structure of the plant.
We never use artificial additives, fillers, or shortcuts in our process. Just pure, natural kava, handled the way it has always been done with care, respect, and deep knowledge of the plant.
